Is the Chrome team still working on the NTP redesign? I thought the
current design was an interim design (ex: postponed bookmarks
redesign).

The biggest change I would like to see is the elimination of bottom
navigation bar. The large grey bar breaks the NTP into two regions
(white and grey) and contains mostly redundant features. The chrome
logo is also on the taskbar/superbar/dock, and NTP navigation better
handled through nice, large arrows. The only unique element is
"recently closed." That button could stay in the same place but with
a white background.

Thoughts?

I am certainly not the biggest fan of the current NTP design, but I would not want to lose the bottom bar as it is the primary way I navigate between the different NTP sections.

If I could suggest one change to the bottom bar it would be to show one or two links to recently closed pages (sort of like the previous version of the NTP) instead of only a menu, but apart from that, I have yet to see an NTP design that is all-around better than the current one.

Still, that is just my 2¢, and I would be glad to hear other suggestions (plus I do not develop Chrome, so it is not my say regardless).

What I'd like to see personally is the ability to finally customize
the NTP, and add items that I actually WANT on it. Why isn't there an
option to simply right click an item and choose "edit address" is
beyond me.
