Middle-click on Bookmarks items on "rolling list" menu from the Bookmarks bar...

That's what happens for me (Chrome 18 on Mac). Can you detail the steps to reproduce what you're seeing, and the version you're using?

Are you using current Stable Chrome 18 and are you using it on
Windows, Mac, Linux, or ChromeOS ?

For my Chrome 18.0.1025.162 also on Win7 x64, middle-click a bookmark
from list (Other Bookmarks) does open in a new background tab.

not that list, i meant the one that appears when you click the " » "
that appears when the bookmark tab is not big enough to show all its
items.

I couldn't reproduce the problem on Win7, Linux nor Mac. Seems to work as intended on every platform.

I think Juanseet means that middle clicking on the actual arrow does not open all of the rest of the bookmarks/folders (the ones in new tabs.
Sounds to me like this is by design, it would be pretty weird if it did that, since this button is purely an auxiliary.
