Clock icon in the address bar

Hi,

What is the clock icon on the address bar that keeps appearing on certain sites?

Please look at the address bar in the attached image. I tried to click, right click on it to get information but nothing comes up. 

Does anybody know?

I am almost positive it means that some (or one) linked pages were pre-rendered.

(Either that, or maybe HTTP throttling, which means that Chrome blocks you from browsing websites that return too many errors within a short time.)
