I am certainly not the biggest fan of the current NTP design, but I would
not want to lose the bottom bar as it is the primary way I navigate between
the different NTP sections.
If I could suggest one change to the bottom bar it would be to show one or
two links to recently closed pages (sort of like the previous version of
the NTP) instead of *only* a menu, but apart from that, I have yet to see
an NTP design that is all-around *better* than the current one.
Still, that is just my 2˘, and I would be glad to hear other suggestions
(plus I do not develop Chrome, so it is not my say regardless).
