New issue 118149 by sina...@gmail.com: Page loads then immediately
disappears -- ERROR:gles2_cmd_decoder.cc(4725) in Console

OS Version: OS X 10.7.3

Firefox 4.x: (4.x? Really? "OK" in 9.0.1)
IE 7/8/9: (not tested)
This bug is probably just as frustrating to experience as it is to
describe. Basically, when I visit a certain set of websites (which I
haven't found a commonality across), Chrome renders the page them
immediately paints the entire window white as soon as the page is finished
loading.
I can see the elements of the page get painted as they load. But as soon
as the page finishes loading, every page element vanishes leaving an empty,
white window. All the elements are still there--I can click on links,
produce hover text, use contextual menus.
When this happens, I see a single line printed in Console.app. An example:
12-03-14 12:06:45.050 AM [0x0-0xefaefa].com.google.Chrome:
[29231:-1397185856:447134316921067:ERROR:gles2_cmd_decoder.cc(4725)]
I've attached two example series of screenshots.
Some additional notes:
- I started experiencing this problem in the past couple of days
- I can only reproduce it on 1 of my 2 machines
- the same sites fail consistently
- restarting Chrome or my machine have no effect
- the same sites consistently fail across all profiles including inside an
incognito window

The "gles" and symptoms imply a GPU bug?
Output of about:gpu. Also attached as an HTML file for saner consumption.

And no, http://www.webkit.org/blog-files/3d-transforms/poster-circle.html
loads fine. I can see the cylinder animation fine.

Sorry for the difficulty.
I've attempted to reproduce this on an iMac (iMac8,1 24-inch, Early 2008,
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB), on both 10.6.8 and 10.7.3, with both
current Chrome Stable (18.0.1025.142) and Canary (19.0.1060.0).
Unfortunately I can not reproduce the problem.
What is the exact type of Mac on which the failure occurs?
The error message from glTexImageIOSurface2DCHROMIUM indicates that
something is going wrong with the code path which draws Flash to the screen
via Chrome's compositor. This code path was disabled late in the Chrome 18
release but is still enabled in Chrome 19 and later. If something goes
wrong here, I would expect that only the Flash content would disappear, not
the entire web page, but it's difficult to guess how things might fail.
We need to be able to reproduce this in house to make any progress.
My best guess is that this is pretty old hardware (the ATI Radeon HD 2600
is quite old) and that there might be a bug in the graphics drivers for it.
Thanks for the update. I haven't experienced this in the last couple Chrome
18 beta builds. I'll use Canary for a few days to see if it reoccurs.
