The same issue as the OP, for the last month under linux (ubuntu9.10) +
winXP
with a nvidia9500 chromium freezes when I ask for a experimental-webgl
context, Ive tried various ~10 chromium versions (sorry I cant say exactly
what the last version that worked, it was about a month ago)

OK tried Google Chrome 10.0.648.6 (Official Build 72589) unknown

still no working (though it doesnt freeze now, so its progress :) )

if (window.WebGLRenderingContext) // works

gl = canvas.getContext("experimental-webgl"); // doesnt work
gl = canvas.getContext("webgl"); // doesnt work

Ive tried with + without the following
--enable-accelerated-compositing --enable-accelerated-2d-canvas
but gl == null always

about:gpu displays
Driver Information
... loading ...
Diagnostics
... loading ...
+ the cursor flashes for 5+ mins (its a bog-standard nvidia 9500GS with
recent drivers)
