New issue 130969 by aaronyo...@google.com: Text garbled on several web
sites.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=130969

Chrome Version : 19.0.1084.52
OS Version: OS X 10.5.8
URLs (if applicable) : nytimes.com, huffingtonpost.com, boingboing.net
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 5.06: OK
Firefox 5.01: OK

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to any web page
2. If page looks normal, reload until the text it garbled.

What is the expected result?
Normal text.

What happens instead?
Some text appears as garbage strings such
as: "efo%eo+e%%w%%wyeeeeweeIfo%%eI%".
However, when I select this same text and copy-and-paste it, it appears in
the destination as normal (in this example: "But the fossil record tells us
that wasn't always the case. There were, for instance, at l")
This suggests to me that there may be a font selection or font rendering
problem.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

I just started seeing this problem today.
See attached screen shots.

UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8)

I'm no longer seeing the problem.
I noticed that I'm now running 19.0.1084.54 instead of 19.0.1084.52
(thanks, auto-updater!) so that may have fixed it.

I downloaded Version 21.0.1168.0 canary and have not seen the problem after
trying three web sites that contained garbled text before.

I am seeing the same behaviour described in the original post in
19.0.1084.56 on OSX 10.5.8. Can this issue be reopened?
