The special app tabs and cleaner chrome (no URL bar, etc) are missing.
Is there a new command-line arg or something?

I'm referring to left-hand short tabs with the 24x24 icons on top and
no tool/URL bar.

So you mean the chrome apps and their shortcuts on the new tab page,
right?

They recently updated the way the app manifest works so you might need
to either make or download new versions of the apps you are using.

No, he means the tab for the app. ALso when you open a app it show the
url bar, bookmarks and everything else, and there is no way the hide
the url bar in app tabs. The style changed to look more like pinned
tabbed. Like the other version better, google.

Interestingly, my app tabs look like pinned tabs (except for a
marginally bigger icon) but they don't have the bookmarks bar or the
url bar.

No update to this? Have the "web apps" feature been removed or what?

The web app feature had not been removed and still works perfectly for
me.

I know the URL bar can be shown/hidden in web apps by right clicking
on the tab but i don't believe this is the problem. If you could
provide more details to the your system we may be able to help.

I'm using Linux Ubuntu 10.04 with this version: 6.0.472.0 (Official
Build 53024) dev

When I open a web app from the "New tab" screen, I don't see a
floating icon anymore and the URL and address bar is visible. There's
no option to remove them either if I right click on the tab.

I posted this issue with a screenshot to the Chromium project:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=50226 . They
replied back saying:

"The option of hiding the Address Bar has been removed from apps at
this time"

I liked the full screen option for permanently open tabs...

Okay i have seen this on my computer before on Ubuntu while it was
working on the same machine in windows. So I believe it may be an
issue with the Linux build and i would expect they will re-enable the
ability to hide the URL bar in a future build. (I'll boot up Ubuntu
10.04 in a moment to check if i can repeat the problem.)

Sorry about the delay there had some trouble with updating chrome. I
can confirm I get the same result. Does anyone know what the deal is
with Macs build of chrome.

I presume this error will be rectified at some point. However the URL
bar wasn't hidden in the first build on Linux with web apps, so
they're assumably getting some problems with it.

Sorry for the late reply.

I'm not hopeful about this being changed, because they changed the
status to "Wont Fix" in the bug report. We'll just have to wait and
see.

Also, I can confirm that the URL bar was indeed hidden in the last
build (466). Which is why I noticed that it was there in this one...

I believe the user interface is being worked on currently, with most of it being reverted.
Stay tuned for new idea.

Apps are purposely disabled in Chrome 6 as it is getting close to
stable and apps aren't planned for that release.

If you're on the dev channel, you should see apps reappear in the next
release, which should be 7.x.
