Things are improving with the combo box and focus mode issue. Focus mode
(called forms mode in JAWS) is activated when pressing enter as it
should be. Also, focus now correctly changes from one item to the next
as you arrow up and down. Neither NVDA or JAWS announces the new item,
unless shift-tabbing and tabbing back to the control.

Confirmed. In addition, I have more details and another issue to report.
Google Chrome Canary and NVDA Snapshot Main-4707

ebay.com;
ESC to exit focus mode and switch to browse mode;
C to combobox;
ALT+DOWN ARROW to expand/open combobox;
Expected: Combobox to expand/open and NVDA to switch to focus mode
Actual: Nothing happens

ENTER on combobox;
DOWN ARROW several times;
NVDA+TAB to report object with focus;
Expected: combobox, updated item (books), collapsed, focus)
Actual: Combobox still reports all categories
Notes:I could confirm the reported behavior by Alex of SayLine and
SHIFT+TAB and TAB.
