Older NWT for sale

My wife’s NWT is for sale at a bargain price. It is a late 90’s or early 20’s, red, 3by7, excellent cosmetic wise the 3 speed hub needs some expert assistance. It has been stored in our basement for several years, so the tires may have dry rot? Tubes will be ok and one new in the box. This bike has toured many times locally plus in France and the Netherlands. Excellent suit case with all packing materials, color matched rear rack, kick stand, good tear view mirror, quick release front wheel, front and rear fenders.

$150 if picked up from our house in Silver Spring, MD, inside Belt Way a couple of miles East of downtown SS.

A friend of mine who lives in Colorado alerted me that you have a Bike Friday for sale. I live in Silver Spring and would like to see the bike and get a better understanding of the 3 speed hub issue and the overall bike. The most usual problem with internal-gear hubs is a mis-adjusted cable. There may be nothing wrong inside the hub.

Cracked tire sidewalls do not affect the strength of a tire. That is in the fabric underneath. Hardened tread rubber does affect traction but is less common/takes much longer..

The 3 x 7 is no longer manufactured, but it is very durable. You can probably still get replacement parts by way of eBay. Most of the internal parts are the same as with some other Sachs hubs. I'll be posting cross-compatibility information on Sheldonbrown.com within the next month or two.
